Melanoma and Skin cancers often occur on the face. Any surgical excision will require considered and meticulous surgical technique with either direct closure or reconstruction to minimise visible scarring and restore and maintain function.
Trauma to the facial soft tissue can result in scarring, tissue loss, nerve injury and functional problems especially around the eyes and mouth. Repair and reconstruction including microsurgical techniques can help minimise these issues.
Benign soft tissue tumours can occur almost anywhere in the body. They arise from within or between blood vessels, nerves, tendons, muscles or subcutaneous tissue. Examples include; lipomas, giant cell tumours of tendon sheath, neurofibromas and haemangiomas.
Malignant soft tissue tumours are rarer and require specialist investigation and management.
Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is designed to improve the appearance, shape, proportion and position of the ear. This can help correct a structural defect that is present at birth which may become more apparent during growth and development. Alternatively, otoplasty can be considered following a traumatic injury to the ear.
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the eyelids. It can help to manage excess upper eyelid skin that impairs vision, as well as rejuvenating the area around your eyes.
